Vera Camille Chappelle was born in St. Louis, Missouri where she received her early education and graduated from Sumner High School; she later attended Business College in Los Angeles, California. She was employed for a number of years by the Los Angeles County Clerk's Office and retired as a Superior Court Clerk of the County of Los Angeles.

    Vera was married to District Elder Leroy A. Chappelle for 60 years, and a pastor's wife over 40 years. In her book, "Together In Ministry," she recounts some of her experiences as she served along with her husband in the Ministry, and offers advice to young women whose husbands were newly called by God into the Ministry.

    Vera served as Executive Secretary of Church of Jesus Christ for over 30 years. She taught Public Speaking, The Life and Journeys of Paul, and English (SL) at the Berea Bible Institute. Is Secretary of the Foreign Missions Auxiliary of the California District council, and a member of the Board of Christian Education at the Celeste Scott Christian School of Inglewood.

    Vera's special talents were writing poetry and painting in watercolor and oils. She traveled extensively throughout the world with her husband, but her greatest inspiration was from her tours of Israel.
